Visiting Pasar Badung, Denpasar + {recipe} Balinese Satay.

We had a short vacation in Bali about 1.5 weeks ago.
Actually that was my second trip to Bali after moved back to Indonesia, 3 years ago.

Back from the refreshing trip, we happily celebrated my mom's 70th birthday early July. Only last week, I had time to check the photos that I took during our trip in Bali. Oh,...it's a lot. And I remember the pictures that I took in Bali 1.5 years ago, that

From the Tea Plantation to the Tea Table

West Java Province is blessed with fertile soil, beautiful panorama, delicious culinary and ... beautiful ladies. I won't explain more about the last one, but I'm sure most of Indonesians have known about that. But for the others, you'll find out in this posting.

It was about 3 weeks ago, we had a trip to Lembang, West Java to attend a 'family day' event from my husband's office. Actually it

Beautiful Ciwidey in West Java

I feel so good; finally at the end of March, on a 'long weekend' we had a change to get out of this city and had a wonderful natural adventure trip. It's a very good break after almost 3 months I didn't go out of this metropolitan. We decided not to travel a lot until our daughter's final and national exams are done, which will be by mid-May! uuphhh... But a short vacation is not harming at all,

Lunar New Year 2563

The year of Golden Rabbit or 2562 in Chinese calendar ended and the year of Water Dragon has begun.

Didn't want to lost the moment where many Chinese were happily welcoming the new year with colorful ornaments, delicious delicacies, and also the smoky temples, I decided to visit the famous Jakarta China Town again!
If last year I visited this place by myself, this time I brought along my

Another beautiful escape; Jatiluhur Lake, West Java.

For many of us who spent our primary school in Indonesia, we must have learned about 'the biggest dam or the biggest hydro-power in Indonesia' name Jatiluhur nearby Purwakarta, West Java.

For many of us who live in Jakarta or Bandung or both and spend many-many times travelling through Purbalenyi toll highway, must be familiar with this exit signage. See the picture below.

Timlo & Sosis SOLO *my version*

Solo, the spirit of Java!

Solo, which has the official name of Surakarta, is located in Central Java, Indonesia.
This city is also known as Batik City. Exploring this city in less than 24 hours (not including sleeping at night), I found lots of interesting parts in it.
Tradition and modernism are living side-by-side in such beautiful harmony. The Solo City Goverment seems appreciating cultural

Trip to Semarang (1)

Semarang is the capital city of Central Java province, in Indonesia.
It is located in north coast of Java Island.

Probably it's not as popular as Bali or Tana Toraja as the top two tourist destinations in the country, but the trip to Semarang has given us an opportunity to feel, to know, to learn, to see, and the most important one is to enjoy one of the beautiful and historical cities in our

Trip to Cirebon, West Java (2)

Visiting a new place also means trying new food.
In Cirebon we were not only enjoying the city, seeing the heritage buildings, and learning their culture, but also enjoying their culinary and capturing the glory of past time dining.

I have a list of traditional food that we must try. And...surprise-surprise, my children love the food, so do I. This culinary journey ends up with beautiful memory

Trip to Cirebon, West Java (1)

Visiting Cirebon was my old dream.
I couldn't remember, when exactly I began to dream visiting Cirebon with my family. After reading some magazines, I had a picture in my mind that Cirebon is a city/town that is rich of culture, has lots of beautiful old buildings, has delicious traditional food and is located not too far from Jakarta.
It must be very interesting and unique place!

Lunar New Year 2562

It's another exciting celebration... New Year!
Yeah, we have some 'New Year' in one calendar year. Other than 'normal' New Year on 1st of January (Gregorian Calender / Anno Domini), this country also celebrates Imlek (Chinese New Year), Saka New Year (Hindhuism) and Hijriah (Islamic). Oh, one more, there is another New Year in Javanese Calendar.
